Hi, I am TheBearPaw and I come from
the Max Payne Wiki.
The Max Payne Wiki is an ever-growing volunteer-compiled database on all things
Max Payne. The game characters, game chapters, locations, factions, weapons, developers, comics, music composers, voice actors, we cover them all.
Why would anyone need a Max Payne Wiki, why can't we just put all of these things into Wikipedia?Well, Wikipedia has its limits, it hates overinclusiveness and obsession about details that it might consider trivial.
As a small illustrating example, it would never allow us to add the biography of an extremely trivial
Max Payne 2 character
Andrews to its articles, or upload pictures detailing each game chapter. Moreover, with our wiki, we can write in our own special style:
The in-universe articles of the Max Payne Wiki (those dealing with objects that exist in the
Max Payne world) use the in-universe writing style, that is - present the information in a way as if you yourself were living in that world. It attempts to minimize breaking the 4th wall and this way letting you immerse yourself more when reading articles.
What's the wiki good for?If you love the
Max Payne universe as much as we do, you simply want to know everything about it: you want to read on all the details the creators established, constructed and wrote into the games and you might have missed or forgotten playing them. It allows you to relive the story of the games in some way, but now in a different light, connecting all the different dots of the story, clarifying the unknown points in the narrative you might have been left wondering about.
The wiki is a great tool to use when you want to brush up your memory about a certain fact from the
Max Payne universe, like say, in what instalments does
Gold Touch Brandy appear, who was
the model for Mona Sax's appearance, or what are
the differences between valkyr in the games and in the Mark Wahlberg film.
The wiki is never finished. Never. There is no such thing as perfection, it can only be a goal we can set for ourselves to reach. The pages are constantly getting edited and new ones are regularly being created.
The online wiki is better than your print encyclopedia or game guide. While it may take time to build a wiki from volunteer user contributions, it can always be changed by anyone at any point. A simple anonymous user can quickly correct an error some editor left the other day, or old information can instantly be updated.
Any one of you can join the wiki (and it is useful to at least register as it's free and you don't see as many advertisements after you do) and add to our project! No edit is too small or insignificant, as it will only help us grow and improve the only such known online
Max Payne information database!
Yet, at this very particular time, I do have to warn you that many wiki pages are very likely filled with Max Payne 3 spoilers so you should avoid them if you haven't finished the storyline of the game yet!!But, wrapping up right now, here are a random few of my favourite wiki articles I could suggest checking out:
Lastly, the Payne Forums members are welcome to discuss the wiki in this section of the forums. Create topics and offer your insight, opinions, suggestions or what-have-you about the Max Payne Wiki. We are eager to hear your thoughts!
See you around, either on this forum side or on the wiki!
