Why did Victor want Max?

Why did he want him specifically?  I think I missed that bit out in the story.

Because he needed a fall guy, someone who was reckless and easy to put the blame on. Max was a natural choice after having been involved with crime families for years and being known for reckless behavior following alot of drinking and pill popping.

The scene in the parking garage explains it pretty well, whatever chapter that is again.

Fall guy for what? no one really has ever given me a good explanation for that, no one really knows what was Max a fall guy for. What was Victor planing to blame Max  for, certainly not his brothers death cos there was no reason for Max killing Rodrigo and even the cops in the news dont blame Max. So why did they need Max? what was he supposed to be the fall guy for?

Did you not listen to the story or something?......

Victor was running a campaign and wanted extra money from his brother Rodrigo who wouldn't give it to him. When Fabiana was captured, Rodrigo sent Max and Passos to pay off the kidnappers the $3 million they demanded for her return. Victor paid the Cracha Preto to ambush the trade and take the money so he can fund his illegal organ selling operation. Corrupt UFE members would capture people in the favelas and bring them to the run down hotel building where there organs would be removed and sold for money to fund Victor. Marcelo helped out by transporting cargo for Victor with Passos which turned out to be people's organs, and Max was brought in for "security" as the plan was hatched so everything could be blamed on him due to his reckless nature and his addiction issues because when it came down to it, nobody would believe the washed up drunken ex-cop turned bodyguard over Victor when it came down to blaming someone for stealing the money and kidnapping / killing the Branco's.

Nobody was meant to die in his family, Victor only intended to scare his family so he could make extra money from it but basically everything went wrong due to the viscous nature of the Cracha Preto and the Tropa Z.

Sorry but the one who gets it all wrong is you, Victor Branco planned and wanted both his brothers to die, because only when both his brothers had died he would inherit the money Rodrigo had just for himself. In fact when Max breaks into Bekers office Victor congratulates Max for also doing a "bonus" job by destroying the organ harvesting plant the Cracha Preto had.

We all know and understand that Victor and Becker were kidnapping people and harvesting organs with the help of the Cracha Preto. However we dont understand how any of this was supposed to be blamed on to Max.

You have even more proof of Victor wanting his brothers death by seeing how when Beckers men capture Marcelo they dont take him out of the Favela, but actually give him to the Cracha Preto for them to kill him and justify the raid on the favela.

As far as I can gather, Max was meant to take the blame for failing to protect the Brancos, not the harvesting operation. He was there to draw attention away from Victor and Becker's schemes. Victor was going for the 'Law & Order' ticket, so having his family attacked by gangs, as well as getting his hands on Rodriguez's money to further fund his campaign, would work out well for him.

I believe they purposefully chose Max to protect Rodriguez; someone who, upon subsequent investigation, nobody would be surprised failed. Being a fat, alcoholic, pill-popping gringo with a history of violence, he fits that category... at least, on paper. Victor had a number of schemes going on to make the money he needed (harvesting, intercepting the ransom etc) so, the fact that Max lost Rodriguez and subsequently nailed not only all the gangs but the harvesting operation too, meant that Victor didn't have to clear up his 'paper trail', so to speak.

Max himself got further and further involved because he was transferring his past tragedies on to this particular mess, hence:

Quote
"Another pile of bodies and still nothing to show for it. It felt like I was detaching; that maybe this was revenge for something else; something deep in the past."

At least, that's what I got from the game.
