Things That Were Missing In MP3

So what did you miss from previous Max Payne titles, that weren't included in this one?

For me it has to be the nightmare sequences and the hourglass that shows bullet time capacity on HUD.

The use of Grenades and Molotov's in Singleplayer... Mona Sax cameo and the Nightmare Sequences.

WHY NO GRENADES?!?

Apparently you can get grenades in an urban city but not in a Favela full of gangsters?!

I miss the graphic novel from MP1 &MP2, it was really unique for the series, kinda sad that they removed that thing from MP3.  :(

Oh yeah, some of the on game tv series like lady and lord, Dick Justice and most important:
BULLET TIME RELOADING CAMERA from Max Payne 2, sure it was ripping of the famous bullet dodging camera movement from the Matrix, but it looked damn awesome!

HUMOR. I laughed so hard in the other Max Payne games at silly little things that you could do, or stuff that people were saying. The Max Payne series is known for it's dark and twisted story, I know. But those little bits of humor helped break that for a couple seconds. In MP3, there was no action button and all the other characters spoke Portuguese.  The only time I laughed was when Max asked Passos is he was the button pusher and Passos replied: "Yeah. You're so good at it."

The feel is totally different in 3...

And Max just keeps on talking and talking and talking!

I actually hated that I had to read a comic in MP2...

And Max just keeps on talking and talking and talking!

He did that in the original two. I think what they've done with MP3 is superb. They put Max at his lowest ebb but still managed to make him likeable... unlike MP2.

As some Metacritic reviewer quite rightly pointed out, this is a revisionist version of Max Payne - it works beautifully. The first Max Payne was a Tarantino-style mish-mash of movies that was more adolescent Heroic Bloodshed than straight noir; the second matured quite a bit and ticked all the required boxes for a (albeit bloody) classic noir; whilst the third goes out-and-out neo-noir (a la Man on Fire or Memento).

I just hope they make a fourth.

I say that  motion comics, like the ones from "inFAMOUS" woulda fit better.
